PV Hoops was founded in 2015 by Tricia Olsen, a Palos Verdes small business owner and mother of four whose girls were interested in basketball. After many years volunteering as the Girls’ Division commissioner for the local recreational league PVBA, Coach Trish started PV Hoops to give her girls and their peers the opportunity to play competitive club basketball in Palos Verdes. Prior to the founding of PV Hoops, there were no club basketball programs for girls on the Hill. In 2018, PV Hoops expanded to include boys as an alternative to the other club basketball programs in Palos Verdes.
The focus of the club is on development of basketball skills, character, confidence, and resilience. We challenge our players to improve continuously within a positive, supportive, and safe environment that encourages the players to push beyond their comfort zone and grow as basketball players and people. We welcome players who play multiple sports since it is well established that participation in different activities is best for long-term development and injury prevention, especially for younger children. PV Hoops is a 501(c)3 non-profit in which all player fees support necessary program expenses including gym time, coaches, and tournament fees.
